Is a skeleton dial difficult to read?
ZENITH skeleton watches retain clear reading hands and a legible hour chapter ring. The El Primero skeletonisation is designed with legibility in mind: the reading elements (hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph) remain prioritised over the mechanical display.
Does skeletonising weaken the El Primero calibre?
No. Skeletonisation is performed by ZENITH in its Le Locle workshops: each bridge is machined while preserving the minimum structural sections required for movement rigidity. The Chronomaster Sport Skeleton offers the same performance and durability as the standard version.
What is the difference between the Chronomaster Open and the Skeleton?
The Chronomaster Open features a "window" on the dial revealing only the escapement and column wheel. The Chronomaster Sport Skeleton goes further: the entire El Primero calibre is skeletonised, visible through the transparent dial at 360°. Both show the mechanics, but to very different degrees.
Does a skeleton watch require more maintenance?
No. The maintenance schedule is the same as for standard El Primero models: service every 5 to 7 years. However, avoid highly dusty or damp environments without protection, as skeleton movements are more exposed to the external environment.
Is the Chronomaster Sport Skeleton available in titanium?
Yes. Some versions of the Chronomaster Sport Skeleton are available in grade 5 titanium, significantly reducing the watch's weight for increased wrist comfort. Ask in-store at Auberi for availability by finish.
