The Luminor case was created in 1993 for the first Panerai watch collection specifically designed for the general public. Its simple forms, designed with respect for tradition, are the basis of Officine Panerai's tremendous worldwide success - a success that goes far beyond the circle of enthusiastic collectors and enthusiasts who, even before 1993, knew and appreciated the uniqueness of the watches produced by the Italian brand. Inspired by the historic case of the Luminor 1950 created for the Italian Navy commandos, the new Luminor retains all the characteristics that made this watch an icon of luxury sports watchmaking while benefiting from updated proportions. Its powerful lines exude a strong masculinity and unmatched robustness. The lugs are crafted from the same block of metal as the case and their design integrates perfectly with the overall shape of the watch. As in the Luminor 1950, the most striking feature is the crown protection device, which guarantees the exceptional water resistance of the case.
