Performance and style for all your water activities. In the 1960s, the new sport of scuba diving was all the rage. For divers, timekeeping was essential. Breitling therefore set out to offer them the clearest and most precise dive watch possible, by eliminating every function that did not meet their vital needs underwater. This pared-down watch was named the Slow Motion. All that remained were clean lines, thick indexes with luminescent coating, square hands and a contrasting dial ring to optimise legibility. Practical, certainly. But what everyone loved most of all was the style. The new Superocean revisits the famous design codes of the Slow Motion while adding modern features, such as a ceramic-inlaid bezel and brightly coloured dials. The broad hands and the indexes coated with Super-LumiNova® luminescent material make it easy to read underwater. The watch is water-resistant to 300 m (1000 ft) and is also resistant to shocks, sand and salt water. The bronze version features a special alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion. However, a light patina will appear over time and make the watch even more unique. Both strap options (rubber and metal) have a folding clasp that allows micro-adjustments of up to 15 mm for easier wear over thermal tops and wetsuits. Its scratch-resistant ceramic-inlaid bezel fears neither wear nor fading. For safety reasons, the bezel is unidirectional on most sizes, but bidirectional and fitted with a patented lock on the 46 mm model. Better still, it is no longer just a dive watch: with it, you can surf, swim, go to the beach bar and then wear it to dinner. The Superocean is the perfect balance between the nostalgia of its heritage and the freshness of its new look.
