How to Care for Your Watch Over Time

Do you own one or more watches and would like to take the best possible care of them? Watch maintenance begins in everyday life and follows certain rules over the years. The AUBERI Maison supports you throughout the life of your watch—from helping you choose the right one based on your tastes, budget, and desires, to providing maintenance advice and checks, year after year.

Daily Watch Care

A watch is a bit like a fine car. Just as you wouldn't take a city car off-roading, you shouldn't wear your watch during extreme, sports, or manual activities where it could take knocks that might damage it. Also, wear your watch well-fitted to your wrist so it doesn't catch on the first obstacle it encounters.

You should also avoid wearing it in the shower, even if it is water-resistant. Soap residue can get into the crevices and risk clogging it up.

When summer comes, avoid leaving it in direct sunlight—for example, by the poolside! It could develop condensation, which would damage the seals.

Verification Checks

Even if you follow all the basic maintenance rules, it is necessary to have the water resistance checked every three years. If the ATM rating has dropped below 10, your watch will only be safe for simple handwashing. Regarding operation, if the watch is battery-powered, you will simply need to replace the battery, but if the watch is mechanical, you should bring it to us regularly. It is common practice to change the battery yourself, but this is not recommended, as water resistance may be compromised if the replacement is not carried out by a watchmaker.

Just like cars, watches need servicing! A little less frequently, however: every 5 to 7 years depending on the age of the watch, you should bring it to a watchmaker, who will carry out the following steps: after opening the case, they will inspect and clean each movement component one by one. They will check the hands and replace certain parts if necessary. They will oil the movement, then reassemble it and replace the seals. They will close the case, check the water resistance, and test the chronometric performance.

The AUBERI Maison at Cap3000 takes care of all these service points for you, because we are here at every stage of your watch's life.
