A piece of the Eiffel Tower, hexagonal details, and the interplay of light: LVMH, the world's leading luxury group, storied jewelry house Chaumet, and the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee (COJOP) have just unveiled the creations that will honor the finest athletes of the Games.
The Eiffel Tower at the Neck
Chaumet, the first jeweller in history to have designed a medal for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, created these exceptional pieces as a tribute to France and the City of Light. Conceived in collaboration with the COJOP and with the support of LVMH — the competition's creative partner and Chaumet's parent company — these creations are rich with national and local references.
Gold, silver, and bronze, but also iron: the heart of each medal is hewn from an authentic fragment of the Eiffel Tower, preserved during its renovation. Hexagonal in shape, this insert is encircled by faceted rays designed to maximise the interplay of light. The ensemble is assembled using the claw-setting technique that Chaumet traditionally employs in its haute joaillerie creations, evoking the rivets of the Iron Lady.
The ribbons feature a lattice motif inspired by the Eiffel Tower, while the red of the Paralympic medal ribbons echoes the tower's iconic "Venice red" and "red-brown" hues.
A Tribute to Ancient Greece
While the first face highlights the competition's logo, the second evokes the rebirth of the Games in Greece. It is centered on the figure of Nike, goddess of Victory, set against a backdrop in which the Eiffel Tower faces the Acropolis of Athens. On the Paralympic medals, this face bears an upward-angled view of the Tower, framed by the words "Paris" and "2024" inscribed in universal Braille.
