Omega Watches Rubber Straps
How to Choose Your Omega Watch with a Rubber Strap
At Omega, rubber straps are no longer reserved for diving watches. They can be found on the Seamaster Diver 300M, the Planet Ocean 600M, the Aqua Terra collection and certain Speedmaster models, with distinctive patterns for each collection: wave motifs on the Seamaster models and a texture inspired by yacht sails on the Aqua Terra.
The first criterion is intended use. Rubber is resistant to seawater, chlorine and perspiration, but not all watches fitted with a rubber strap offer the same level of water resistance. The Speedmaster Moonwatch is water-resistant to 50 metres, the Aqua Terra to 150 metres, the Seamaster Diver 300M to 300 metres, and the Planet Ocean to 600 metres, with a helium escape valve for saturation diving. For swimming and snorkelling, the Aqua Terra is sufficient; for scuba diving, the Diver 300M or Planet Ocean are designed for this purpose, with a unidirectional rotating bezel.
The second criterion is wrist circumference. The Aqua Terra is available in 38 and 41 mm, the Diver 300M in 42 mm, the Speedmaster Moonwatch in 42 mm, and the Planet Ocean in 43.5 mm. On a wrist measuring less than 16 cm, the 38 mm Aqua Terra maintains balanced proportions, while the Planet Ocean requires a larger wrist.
The third criterion is style. The Aqua Terra, with its horizontal teak-patterned dial, works just as well with a shirt as with casual clothing. The Diver 300M and Planet Ocean have a distinctly sporty character. The Speedmaster collection adds chronograph functionality and a manual-winding movement.
Finally, consider maintenance and comfort. Rubber remains flexible in hot weather, does not retain moisture and can simply be rinsed with fresh water after exposure to the sea. It is also lighter than a steel bracelet, which makes a noticeable difference in everyday wear.
To compare sizes and how the strap sits on the wrist, trying the watches on at our Auberi boutiques on the French Riviera can help you decide between two models.

FAQ
Can the rubber strap be replaced with a steel bracelet?
Yes. On most Seamaster, Aqua Terra and Speedmaster models, the rubber strap can be replaced with an Omega steel bracelet or leather strap of the same width. The change can be made in-store, allowing you to use a single watch for different occasions.
How should an Omega rubber strap be maintained?
After swimming in the sea or a pool, rinse the watch and strap with fresh water, then dry them with a soft cloth. Avoid solvents and alcohol-based products. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly when the watch is off the wrist, should also be avoided.
Is rubber comfortable in very hot weather?
Rubber does not retain moisture and dries quickly, making it well suited to summers on the French Riviera. Unlike a leather strap, it does not stick to the skin and is easy to clean after a day at the beach.
Can a watch with a rubber strap be worn with formal attire?
It depends on the model. The Aqua Terra, with its understated case and textured strap, works well with smart city attire. A Planet Ocean or Diver 300M on a rubber strap has a more pronounced sporty character and is better suited to casual outfits.
