The pursuit of high precision has been at the heart of Grand Seiko's values since the creation of the first model in 1960. Less than 10 years after its birth, Grand Seiko introduced the mechanical calibers VFA, for "Very Fine Adjusted." First used in 1969, this acronym designated a Grand Seiko watch adjusted with such precision that it achieved an extraordinary monthly deviation of ±1 minute. In the late 1970s, the development process of Spring Drive began with the goal of harmoniously combining traditional mainspring energy with cutting-edge electronic watchmaking. In 2004, Grand Seiko finally introduced the caliber 9R65 Spring Drive, combining automatic winding and a 72-hour power reserve with watchmaking technology capable of a monthly accuracy of ±15 seconds, thus setting a new standard among mainspring-driven movements. In 2025, the caliber 9RB2 made its debut in the Evolution 9 collection. East of the Shinshu Watch Studio are the Kirigamine Highlands, where trees covered in frost can be seen during the harsh winter months. The pale blue textured dial captures the beauty of these icy forests.
