In the world of precision watchmaking, some timepieces strike the perfect balance between technical mastery, aesthetic appeal, and heritage. The Omega Railmaster is one of them. Understated, discreet, yet remarkably sophisticated, it returns today in a modernized version—true to its original spirit but equipped with Omega's latest technological innovations.

We invite you to discover this iconic model, now available in our boutiques on the French Riviera and on our website, alongside the full collection of Omega watches.

A Legacy Born from Technical Innovation

The Railmaster debuted in 1957, the same year as two other Omega legends: the Speedmaster and the Seamaster 300. Originally designed for engineers, scientists, technicians, and railway workers, this watch was notable for its exceptional resistance to magnetic fields—an invisible enemy to mechanical movements.

At the time, the Railmaster could withstand up to 1,000 gauss—an impressive feat. Its clean design, free from rotating bezels or unnecessary complications, reflected its utilitarian purpose. Yet its efficiency and discretion quickly earned it the admiration of watch enthusiasts.

This philosophy of functional simplicity can also be found in other iconic models such as the Seamaster Aqua Terra, which shares the Railmaster’s understated elegance and unmatched durability.

Today, Omega reinterprets the Railmaster with a modern vintage style and significantly enhanced anti-magnetic capabilities.

Minimalist, Functional Design

The new Omega Railmaster embodies elegant simplicity. Its 40 mm stainless steel case features clean lines and a brushed finish that subtly catches the light. The slim, fixed bezel frames a highly functional dial.

The vertically brushed dial, typically available in blue or black, is adorned with beige Super-LumiNova-coated hour markers and Arabic numerals, lending a retro touch. Broad arrow-shaped hands enhance the utilitarian spirit and ensure optimal readability—even in the dark.

This minimalist approach contrasts with sportier models like the Seamaster Diver 300M or the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M, which feature rotating bezels and more robust designs for professional diving.

The caseback is screw-in, decorated with a spiral motif and engraved with the Railmaster’s emblematic logo. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides ensures excellent visual comfort.

The Heart of the Railmaster: Calibre 8806

Beneath its simple appearance lies advanced technology. The Railmaster is powered by the Omega Calibre 8806, a self-winding movement certified Master Chronometer by METAS (the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology).

This movement delivers outstanding chronometric precision, resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, and a 55-hour power reserve. It features a silicon balance spring and a Co-Axial escapement—hallmarks of Omega’s most advanced calibres.

This Master Chronometer technology is also found in other prestigious models such as the Constellation Globemaster and the latest versions of the Speedmaster Moonwatch, ensuring exceptional performance in all conditions.

The Railmaster therefore offers performance far beyond that of most contemporary mechanical watches, while remaining true to its original mission: a reliable and durable tool for any situation.

Versatile Straps for Every Style

The Railmaster is available with various strap options:

  • Stainless steel bracelet with three brushed and polished links and a secure folding clasp.
  • Denim or NATO fabric strap for a more casual and vintage look.
  • Aged leather strap that enhances the watch’s rugged elegance.

This versatility allows the model to adapt to any setting—from the office to the workshop, from city streets to countryside escapes.

For those looking for a different take on Omega’s design, the Omega De Ville collection offers a more classic, dressy elegance, while the Omega Constellation models boast a contemporary design with their iconic claws.

Pricing and Availability

The Railmaster’s price varies based on dial and strap configurations. On average, the standard fabric strap model starts at €5,100, while the steel bracelet versions are around €5,400.
