TUDOR RANGER WATCHES

To mark the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition - a two-year mission to Greenland that enabled British explorers to carry out glaciological and seismic studies - TUDOR is launching the new RANGER.

This expedition was one of the first long-term tests in real and, above all, extreme conditions for the House of TUDOR.

Faithful to the first TUDOR RANGER, this new version pays homage to it by retaining the four hour-markers, the refined black dial and the duo of hour-minute hands in the shape of a rounded arrow and a sword. As for the hands, they get a touch of novelty: the tip of the second hand is treated in burgundy.

The RANGER blends cutting-edge watchmaking technology with historic aesthetics!

A History of Exploration

The Tudor Ranger has its origins in the 1950s. It embodies the adventurous spirit of Tudor watches. A brand created by Hans Wilsdorf (also founder of Rolex) to offer the robustness and quality of Rolex at a more affordable price.

The Ranger model as we know it today draws its inspiration from the legendary British scientific expedition to Greenland in 1952-1954. The members of this expedition were equipped with Tudor Oyster Prince watches, the spiritual ancestors of the Ranger, which were subjected to extreme conditions.

The modern Ranger, relaunched in 2022, continues this tradition of endurance and utilitarian simplicity.

Watch presentation

The Tudor Ranger is distinguished by its resolutely toolwatch aesthetic. Its presentation is pure and effective, true to its DNA as a tool for exploration:

  • Case: Satin-finish stainless steel, 39 mm in diameter, with sober yet robust lines.
  • Dial: Matt black with Arabic hour markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock, typical of the Ranger model, and "syringe" hands coated with vintage beige Super-LumiNova.
  • Glass: Domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal for excellent legibility.
  • Water resistance: Up to 100 meters, making it a reliable watch for everyday use as well as more demanding conditions.

Ranger remains true to its minimalist styling, inspired by 20th-century military watches.

Manufacture Calibre MT5402

The mechanical heart of the Ranger is a real asset. It is powered by the MT5402 caliber, an automatic manufacture movement developed by Tudor, renowned for its robustness and precision:

  • Autonomy: Approximately 70 hours of power reserve, which means you can leave the watch on for a weekend without it stopping.
  • Certification: COSC-certified chronometer, a guarantee of precision.
  • Architecture: Variable inertia balance and silicon balance-spring, guaranteeing superior resistance to magnetic fields and temperature variations.

This movement illustrates Tudor's commitment to developing its own calibers, independently of external sourcing.

The different types of bracelets

The Tudor Ranger is available with several bracelet options, all designed to maximize comfort and durability. The stainless steel bracelet adopts an Oyster style with solid links. It is equipped with a folding clasp featuring the "T-Fit" micro-adjustment system, which enables a quick and precise fit without the need for tools.

The brown leather strap offers a more classic alternative, with textured leather enhanced by contrasting stitching. It closes with a traditional pin buckle, underlining the watch's vintage character.

Finally, the NATO-style fabric strap is handcrafted by the Julien Faure workshop in France. Lightweight and breathable, it's perfect for outdoor use and for those looking for a more casual look.

This variety of bracelets allows each user to personalize their Ranger according to their lifestyle, whether urban, adventurous or a lover of timeless design.
